Hinge Survey
In collaboration with The Landmark Society of Western New York, FCF is contributing to a survey of historic resources in portions of Marketview Heights and Grove Place by conducting oral history interviews with individuals affected by the development and refilling of the Inner Loop. The survey area is roughly bounded by Chestnut St. and North St. on the west, Lewis St. on the north, Union St. on the east, and East Ave. on the south.
This project, also conducted in collaboration with Hinge Neighbors, aims to document the development history of this section of the city, including the evolution of the built environment; demographic patterns; the impact of racist housing and planning policies; and the displacement of residents during construction of the Inner Loop.
Community members gather at the YMCA Center for Equity at Lewis Street during a planning meeting organized by Hinge Neighbors.
